About Speaker

Ms. Hoa Giang is a Data & Applied Scientist at Microsoft. She works in Intelligent Input team of Microsoft AI + Research org. Her works focus on text processing, text prediction, sequential data mining, language modelling valuation & experimentation. She deployed some new models related to East Asian language improvement such as: Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, etc. She also worked on experimentation pipeline to test LM quality.

Abstract

The objectives of the seminar is not to deep dive into any approach/paper but review the most common applications of NLP in commercial technology products and zooming into the context of East Asian languages to understand the applications, challenges and also opportunities of NLP in those languages.
